Meredith: With our last morning on our own before the tour officially began, I turned to our trusty Rick Steves guidebook to decide what to do-- It didn't take me long to pick the Capuchin Crypts due to my love of anatomy! The museum leading up to the crypts was full of fascinating trivia about the Capuchin monks. But my favorite part of the visit were the crypts themselves -- it almost became a game of "Where's Waldo" as I attempted to identify all the bones around me. Not to mention that I found the experience both spiritual and humbling in the way it combined religious devotion and anatomy.
VaLinda: This place was such a fascinating way to spend our "free" time. It reminded me of a Ripley's Believe It or Not museum. Candelabra of femurs! Mantle pieces of skulls! Arches of clavicles! It's not for the squeamish, but luckily we don't fit into that category. |
